Join

UCBC is always on the lookout for new members! Whether you are a rower or a cox, have years of experience or none at all!

Why Join?

Rowing with UCBC will typically entail up to two water sessions a week and a gym session each week. In addition to this, members can use the college gym facilities at their own leisure.

We enter all of the Durham intercollegiate events, the events organised by DARC (Durham Amateur Rowing Club), local heads (Rutherford and Tyne), the London heads (HORR and WEHORR) and the local regattas (Hexham and Durham). On occasion, UCBC even makes an appearence at Henley!

We also provide some of the best social events in the college, from the Bailey Boat Race to the Summer BBQ and the newly created UCBC Ball!

Novice Development Programme

UCBC leads one of the most successful Novice Development Programmes in the region. We regularly take a large group of students who have never rowed before to competing in the Novice Cup, Novice Head and even major events in the country such as the London Heads and Durham Regatta.

If you're interested in taking up rowing or coxing, come to one of the taster sessions at the start of the year!

What Next?

If you're interested in joining as a Novice or Senior Rower, come to the UCBC table at the Castle Freshers Fair at the start of Michaelmas Term or reach out to us on Instagram (@ucbcdurham).
